|91 year old Alma Louise Ashcraft (nee Williams) known by most as Louise, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 1, 2012. Born in Williamstown, KY, she lived for awhile in Denver, CO, before adventuring to California where she settled in the San Fernando Valley. After surviving a major earthquake in 1971, she relocated in Colorado Springs, CO, where she retired from the United States Post Office in 1980 and moved back to Falmouth, KY.
While vacationing in Texas to attend her granddaughter’s wedding and prepare for a permanent move there to be near family, she suffered a massive stroke and passed away a few days later. She was preceded in death by her parents, Delphus Williams and Ruby Lee Swarthwood; brothers: Gaines, Joe, Harold, Neal, and Bill, and her husband, Llano Carl Ashcraft.
She leaves two daughters: Patricia Schutz of Texas and Virginia Sparkin of Colorado. Mrs. Ashcraft had four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
She and her late husband were long time members of the Southside Church of Christ, and, as she was a convert to the Catholic Church in 1948, was also a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Falmouth. She was also a member of T.O.P.S. in Williamstown. An avid reader, Mrs. Ashcraft also loved to crochet and garden and was a fantastic cook. She was well loved and will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
